Sioux Falls, South Dakota often flies under the radar of national trends. We seem to weather storms better than many other communities across the country and still receive recognition for our traditional Midwestern work ethic, our business-friendly environment, our belief that "we're all in this together."
Sioux Falls is not immune from economic challenges affecting business and industry across the country, however. Our city's story is one of cautious optimism -- we still have a lot of good things going in Sioux Falls.
This site was developed to share some of the progress South Dakota's largest city continues to make in spite of national trends. It also offers resources for residents who may need to adjust their careers or education either by choice or as a result of the economic downturn.
We know our community can adjust and we have a responsibility to keep our economy moving. We may be slower, but we are still growing. We can and will continue to move forward, together.
Do you have any stories about progress taking place in the community to share? Email us your thoughts here. Or, read updates from other Sioux Falls area residents under the "Share your thoughts" link on this site.
"In Sioux Falls, times are not that bad.
It's important to look to the future
with optimism."

Dana Dykhouse, President and CEO of First PREMIER Bank, shared his observations about the state of the local economy at a Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce event in spring 2009. Dykhouse's presentation looks at what happened to get us in the economic crisis and how Sioux Falls and South Dakota compare to other regions across the country. His thoughts were so well-received and timely that we asked him to record it to be able to share it with even more people. |
